Antimicrobial Properties

Silver has a long safe history of use as an antimicrobial material. NANOGAP Silver Atomic Quantum Clusters and Nanoparticles continue the development of this history through providing unparalleled levels of antimicrobial performance. For example, aqueous dispersions of NGAP NP Ag-2104-W and NGAP NP Ag-2106-W exhibit minimum inhibitory concentrations (MIC) of between 0.01 to 3.1 ppm silver against a broad range of organisms including E-coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Aspergillus niger. NGAP AQC Ag-1101-W provides a similar level of antimicrobial performance with the added advantage of being totally transparent. When incorporated into thin transparent films and coatings NGAP AQC Ag-1103-A provides 100% inhibition against E-coli and Staphlococcus aureus at silver incorporation levels as low as 100ppm.
